Gerstner 2613 Pro-Series Chest

Thirteen drawers give the 2613 Pro-Series Chest more ways to divide a collection than the ten-drawer Journeyman. The extra depth is just as important: its drawers extend 9-3/4 inches internally, compared with 7-5/8 inches in the 2610. Both chests are 26 inches wide, so the decision is about drawer arrangement and depth as much as drawer count.

Six small shallow drawers occupy the upper section, joined by two narrower drawers and a tall narrow compartment. Four full-width drawers fill the lower portion of the chest. That arrangement gives small instruments or collection pieces their own compartments while leaving longer items a full-width level. The top compartment spans almost the full width beneath the lid.

The front panel gets out of the way

Closed, the front panel covers and locks the drawers. Open it and the sliding hinge lets the panel stow beneath the bottom drawer instead of hanging in front of the chest while you work. Gerstner also documents its Stop-Trac drawer-stop system, which helps keep a drawer from being pulled all the way out unintentionally.

The 2613 is built in the USA with tongue-and-groove construction, a lacquer finish, and felt lining in the top compartment and all thirteen drawers. American Cherry comes with brass hardware and brown felt; Golden Oak and Natural Walnut use nickel hardware and green felt.

Allow for the chest’s 19-inch overall height and 12-1/2-inch depth when choosing its position, along with clearance to open the lid. The B2705 Pro-Series Base is the documented companion when you need a deeper drawer and additional storage below the chest.
